It's Monday! What are you reading? - Feb. 8, 2016

It's Monday! What are you Reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Jen at Teach Mentor Texts and Kellee at Unleashing Readers for those reading kidlit to YA. It was originally created by Sheila at Book Journey. You're invited to share the books you finished last week and the books you hope to finish this week.

This past week I read:

Self-Editing for Fiction Writers by Renni Browne
Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? by Mindy Kaling

Surprisingly, I didn't read any YA books this week. Actually, I didn't read any fiction. I *highly* recommend Browne's book because it is masterfully and directly written (even though I used two adverbs in that sentence), and I wish my undergraduate professors used this book to teach a class instead of Burroway.

Also, I didn't like Kaling's book. Not that the book was poorly written or told (the voice was great), but her dead-pan humor didn't tickle me. Just not a read for me.

Since I am terrible at sticking to a plan that works, I'm going to just talk about the books I hope to finish this week rather than state that I will actually finish them.

Books to start this week:

Thief of Lies by Brenda Drake

Thief of Lies, found on Amber, the Blonde Writer blog

I have been trying to read this book since I bought it, and I WILL get to it this week! I will!!

What books do you plan to read this week? Or are you more like me and are just hoping to finally start some?

  1. Sometimes non fiction is the best read! I see you went to meet Marissa Meyer - bet that was good.
